DESCRIPTION:A workshop to explore the impact of leadership in delivering successful outcomes through major projects\, specifically through the role of clients and delivery team leaders. This interactive session will interrogate our beliefs around project leadership\, and encourage us to challenge the assumption that collaboration is always the answer. \nThis workshop will explore the expectations placed on leadership roles\, including: \n\nThe ‘hero leader’\, who solves all the problems by making all the decisions with singular authority\,\nthe ‘Intelligent Client’\, who clearly articulates their requirements and manages stakeholders to achieve outcomes\, and\nthe ‘Capable Owner’\, who describes the required performance of their asset and brings together an effective enterprise to deliver.\n\nWe will also be invited to consider a new descriptor\, the ‘Incomplete Client’\, by our guest\, Emma-Jane Houghton\, Commercial Director of the Future Materials Campus programme at AWE. Emma-Jane will challenge our existing notions and encourage us to think differently about how we can work together to drive improvements in the way projects and programmes are delivered. \nThe event has been designed to cover general industry learning\, encourage peer-to-peer working and challenge assumptions. We will work together throughout the workshop to co-create a broader\, more nuanced model for project and programme leadership relationships. \nFor this workshop\, we’ve partnered with the Major Projects Association (MPA).
